Tales From The Riverside – by Larry Landgraf

Tales from the Riverside tells true and unique stories about one man’s struggle with alligators, snakes, killer bees, and hordes of nasty critters on a daily basis in his swamp. Experience the danger without the need for professional medical services. Life in a swamp is not for everyone.

Cold Coffee Review: Tales from the Riverside, is a refreshing group of stories that you will relate to if you are not a born and raised a city dweller. If you are a city dweller, you will enjoy the stories, because Author Larry Landgraf writes with candor and humor as he shares his life on the Guadalupe River in Texas.

The author states it best “I’m a swamp dweller”. The book is divided up by thirty-five personal stories with actual photos which illustrate points of interest. Here are a few of his interesting titles: City Gals and Fishing, Catching Moccasins, You Are What You Eat, War in the Swamp, Our Wild Sex Life, Who’s to Blame...Our Dying Estuary, and The Day My World Blew Up in My Face, Literally to name a few.

I love the author’s statement, “There are dozens of ways to die in a swamp. There are just as many ways to die, if not more, in the city.” He goes on the say, “In my opinion, the most dangerous animal on this planet is man. I’ll take my chances with the alligators, bees, snakes, and all the other creatures that live in my swamp.”

As for Larry, he is more comfortable in the swamp where he and his girlfriend can have a garden and fry fresh catfish, not to mention battling with what will walk, fly, crawl, and slitter out of the swamp. Larry and Ellen (city gal) enjoy their beautiful, peaceful and even dangerous environment. He and his partner respect the power of nature, even when they had to endure the wrath of Hurricane Harvey.

Larry shares intimate personal life stories with words that will draw you into the swamp with him. You will feel compassion for Ellen (city woman), living life in a swamp. He even shares some of his mother’s recipes, which look downright yummy.

I, Theodocia Mclean, endorse Tales from the Riverside by Larry Landgraf as a great way to see how Larry lives his life and what he chooses to share with us readers. I purchased this book from Kindle and enjoyed it so much, I turned around and purchased a print paperback copy from Amazon to give to my husband as a Father’s Day gift.
