Circumstances Of Childhood by John W. Howell

Circumstances Of Childhood by John W. Howell

Lifelong friends, more like brothers, give us a glimpse into the circumstances of childhood.

Athletes’ especially pro football players have a professional drive that carries them through life. This is a story of two such men, their boyhood dreams and reality as life unfolds. When one become famous, and under scrutiny in the public, the negatives are just as pronounced as the successes, maybe more.

It is Greg’s childhood pal Keith, who narrates this story, because Greg is not in the position to tell us himself. The hardest part is not always the beginning. Sometimes circumstances are not always what they seem. The question is, how does one prove their innocence when the Justice Department concludes that there is fraud, money laundering and insider trading within the Wall Street firm that Greg built from scratch? It is the same firm in which he invested his life and his family’s dreams.
Let’s me back up and invite you to join read this excerpt:

The game went pretty much as expected.  Greg proved spectacular and led the team to a two-touchdown victory over Alabama. The victory celebration and the press conference took the time to well past ten o’clock at night. Greg met up with Terry and his parents at the motel. They took a quiet booth in the restaurant. Not the best place, but at least relatively private. A few fans passed through and spotted Greg and asked for autographs. He graciously signed what the folks gave him, and they chatted a little and moved on.
Ned spoke up when they sat alone, “So, what did it feel like to win?”
“I’ll tell you, Dad, it was an interesting experience. From the first minute on the field, I knew we would win. It felt like a vision but so real.”
“You played an exceptionally controlled game. The announcers said you stayed so calm and collected.”
“Yes.” Marie nodded. “They even said you looked like a pro quarterback.”
“You guys are making me blush, but you can keep it up.”
They all laughed. Ned then asked if Greg planned to enter the NFL draft. Greg surprised them all by letting them know he hadn’t made up his mind. He turned and looked at Terry and said, “I have a few considerations, and I think that Terry and I need to talk out some things beforehand.”

The decisions Greg makes will play out in hopes and dreams, happy times, romance and struggles. His professional drive will see him through it all. His friend Keith however, has encountered something paranormal that shakes Greg to his core.

I enjoyed reading this book. After you read this book, I encourage you to read My GRL (John Cannon Trilogy Book One), His Revenge (John Cannon Trilogy Book Two), and Our Justice (John Cannon Trilogy Book Three) by John W. Howell.
